1. Bulletproof coffee basic recipe

To make one cup of Bulletproof Coffee, follow these simple steps:

  1. Brew a strong coffee or double shot of espresso from ground low-toxin coffee beans.
  2. Add a teaspoon of MCT oil (working up to one to two tablespoons over several days).
  3. Add a tablespoon of unsalted grass-fed butter (working up to two tablespoons depending on your taste).
  4. Blend all of this in your blender for about 20 seconds.

Simply double recipe for more coffee.

2. Bulletproof coffee almond cappuccino

This recipe is for the cappuccino lovers who don't want to drink milk. A 1/4 cup Almond Milk contains 0.35 gr carbs. This recipe is created by Abel James.

Ingredients:

  • 1 double shot of espresso
  • 1 tablespoon grass-fed butter
  • 1 tablespoon MCT oil
  • ¼ cup unsweetened almond milk

Directions:

  • Pour the coffee into a blender. 
  • Add the butter and MCT oil and blend
  • Pour the mixture into a cappuccino cup.
  • Heat the almond milk and skim the surface to create a large layer of foam. The milk should be mostly foam with just a little bit of hot almond milk beneath. 
  • Pour the milk into the coffee, using a spoon to hold back the foam if necessary. Spoon the foam over the top. 
  • Serve with a sprinkle of cinnamon (optional).

3. Bulletproof coffee with cinnamon

The cinnamon flavor gives you a spiced coffee. On top of that cinnamon is an appetite suppressant and can help to control your blood sugar. This recipe is created by Abel James.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of strong Bulletproof Upgraded coffee
  • 1 tablespoon MCT oil
  • 1 tablespoon grass-fed butter
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon of Erythritol or Xylitol (or to taste)
  • Cinnamon for dusting

Directions:

  • Pour the coffee into the pitcher of your blender. 
  • Add the MCT oil, grass-fed butter cinnamon. 
  • Process until creamy with a bit of froth on top.
  • Pour into a warm mug and dust with cinnamon.

4. Bulletproof coffee with cacao butter

Adding a bit of Cacao butter provides a subtle chocolate finish to your coffee. On top of that, the consumption of raw chocolate is good for heart and blood vessels. The cacao butter is extra; it doesn't replace the grass-fed butter!

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of strong Bulletproof Upgraded coffee
  • 1 tablespoon MCT oil
  • 1 tablespoon grass-fed butter
  • 2 tablespoons full-fat coconut milk
  • 1 teaspoon of raw cacao butter

Directions:

  • Brew and press a pot of coffee in your French press. 
  • Pour two cups into the pitcher of your high powered blender. 
  • Add the oil, butter, coconut milk, cacao butter. 
  • Process on high until creamy with a good amount of froth on top.

5. Bulletproof coffee with vanilla

The vanilla powder gives you this nice extra . Vanilla contains a compound named vanilloids, which has been used for ages as an inflammatory and cognitive enhancing agent.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups French pressed coffee
  • 1 tablespoon MCT oil
  • 1 tablespoon grass-fed butter
  • 2 tablespoons full-fat coconut milk
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla powder

Directions:

  • Pour the coffee into the pitcher of your high powered blender. 
  • Add the oil, butter, coconut milk and vanilla powder 
  • Process on high until creamy with a good amount of froth on top.

6. Bulletproof green tea latte

The Bulletproof green tea is a good alternative if you don't like coffee. The green tea has the same benefits as coffee in supporting focus and concentration. You can leave out the protein powder on protein fasting days. This recipe is featured in the Bulletproof Cookbook.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of canned coconut milk, well shaken
  • 1/2 cup of strong and freshly made green tea 
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Powder
  • 2 tablespoons Collagen Protein Powder (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon of Erythritol or Xylitol (or to taste)

Directions:

  • Bring the coconut milk to a boil over medium-high heat and immediately remove from the heat. 
  • Make 1/2 cup of strong green tea
  • Put the tea, coconut milk and vanilla powder together in a blender and mix until you have a creamy consistency with a layer of foam on top.
  • If desired, for extra protein, add the protein powder and lightly blend until mixed in.
  • Sweeten to taste

7. Bulletproof no coffee vanilla latte

The Bulletproof no coffee vanilla is a second good alternative if you don't like coffee or if you are pregnant.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of hot water
  • 1 or 2 tablespoons grass-fed unsalted butter (use your hunger as a guide)
  • 1 tablespoon of MCT oil (working up to one to two tablespoons over several days)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla powder

Directions:

  • Add the hot water, MCT oil and vanilla powder in a blender and mix until you have a creamy drink with a layer of foam on top.

9. Bulletproof Butternut Latte

This is also one of our . It is a surprising combination of Bulletproof Coffee and butternut squash. Don drink it when you are doing Bulletproof Intermittent Fasting because of the carbs. You can find the recipe in the Bulletproof Cookbook.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of Bulletproof Upgraded coffee
  • 1 tablespoon MCT oil
  • 1 tablespoon grass-fed butter
  • 1 cup cooked butternut squash cubes
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)
  • Erythritol or Xylitol (optional)

 Directions:

  • Pour the coffee into the pitcher of your high powered blender. 
  • Add the oil, butter, MCT Oil and butternut squash
  • Process on high until creamy with a good amount of foam on top, like a latte
  • If desired, add the cinnamon and sweetener to taste

Tips

Tip 1: Use a good quality of coffee

Tip 2: Always preheat your blender

Tip 3: Add 1 or 2 tablespoons of Bulletproof Upgraded Collagen Protein Powder. Make sure you add the protein as a last extra step and only lightly blend until the protein is mixed in. The protein has a very delicate structure, and you don't want to destroy it. Don't use it on your protein fasting day. 

Tip 4: Use Xylitol or Erythritol if you like it sweet. Both are all natural sweeteners. Xylitol is equally sweet to table sugar but has 40% fewer calories. Erythritol is 70% as sweet as regular sugar. However, it contains no calories and carbs.

Tip 5: Dollop of coconut whipped cream to serve. Don't add this if you want to do protein fasting or Bulletproof Intermittent Fasting. Check the recipe below!

10. Coffee topper: Coconut Whipped Cream

Adding Coconut Whipped Cream to your coffee turns it into a real treat. I would suggest to use it on plain coffee instead of Bulletproof coffee because of the calories. This recipe is from Abel James.

Ingredients:

  • 1 15-ounce can full-fat organic coconut milk 
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla powder (optional)

Directions:

Flip the can of coconut milk upside down and leave it in the refrigerator overnight. Flip it back over and open it. The cream will all be on the top. Scoop it into the bowl of an upright kitchen mixer. Add vanilla. Using the whisk attachment, whisk until light and fluffy.

You can store the unused portions of the coconut whipped cream in an airtight container in the refrigerator up to five days.

11. Bulletproof Yerba Mate

Besides caffeine, Yerba Mate contains nutrients like vitamins (A, B and C), antioxidants and minerals (potassium, iron, sodium). It combines the best features of coffee and tea.

Ingredients

  • 2 dl water at 80 °C.
  • 2-4 g yerba mate
  • 1-2 tablespoons of healthy fat (grass-fed butter or MCT oil
  • Flavorings and spices: cinnamon, ginger, , maca etc. (optional)

Directions

  • Add 2-4 g of yerba mate into a filter bag or French press
  • Steep your yerba mate for 4 minutes
  • Pour the brewed yerba mate tea into a blender
  • Add the healthy fats and optional flavorings or spices.
  • Blend the yerba mate tea, fats and (optional) spice(s) in a blender
  • Enjoy the energy boost!
