Trimethylglycine (TMG) is also known as betaine. TMG is active as a methyl donor. The transfer of a methyl group is necessary for certain conversions, such as the metabolism of homocysteine. To support homocysteine metabolism, you should take at least 1.5 g of betaine per day.
