Why a Derma Roller?

Derma rollers have been used in the beauty industry to keep the skin clear for a long time. The microneedles of the derma roller (generally between 0.25 and 1 mm in length) damage the skin slightly and thereby cause a mild, local inflammatory reaction. Inflammation is also a signal for more circulation and repair. In this way, the derma roller stimulates the skin to repair itself.

Facial treatments can be pretty expensive. Derma rolling can provide a cost-effective alternative. You can do it yourself, from the comfort of your own home.

Why use the Alitura Naturals Derma Roller?

Alitura Naturals produces very high-quality skin care products designed to keep the skin as healthy and clear as possible. Andy Nhilo, the owner of Alitura Naturals, tests and uses all his products himself.

The roller material, needle length, and the handle determine the quality and effectiveness of a derma roller.

The roller material

The most important factor that determines the quality of a derma roller is the material that the roller is made out off. The material determines how long the roller will last and how effective the treatments will be. Cheaper derma rollers are often made from surgical steel. The needles will dull more quickly, and the metal can rust with repeated use.

The Alitura Naturals Derma Roller is made from titanium and has about 600 microneedles. Titanium needles will stay sharp for longer, giving the roller a longer lifespan. Titanium also cannot rust.

Needle length

The needle length will determine the thoroughness of the treatment and should be chosen based on the thickness of the skin. A shorter needle length (0.25 to 0.75 mm) is the best choice for thinner skin. You can use the longer needles (1 mm or longer) for thicker skin or areas that require more intensive treatment.

The Alitura Naturals Derma Roller is available with a needle length of 0.25 and 1 mm.

The handle

The best derma rollers have a handle that can be held comfortably and isn't too long or too short. They also often have a sturdy, slightly curved handle that fits well within the curvature of the hand.

The handle of the Alitura Naturals Derma Roller is made from plastic, has a slight curve and the option to release the roller from the handle for ease of cleaning.

Derma Roller treatment

The Alitura Naturals Derma Roller is available in two different needle lengths: 0.25 mm and 1 mm. Use the 0.25 mm if you are new to derma rolling or have sensitive skin. The needle length of 1 mm is suitable for people experienced with derma rolling and who are accustomed to the use of a derma roller.

Use the derma roller on the skin you want to stimulate and promote repair of, for example, the face, scalp and scar tissue. For the best derma rolling results, roll the skin 2-3x times at four different angles (horizontal, vertical, diagonals) in a cross-wise manner. Apply light pressure during this process. The treatment should not be painful. In the video below, Andy demonstrates how he performs a derma rolling treatment.

Use the derma roller 1 to 2 times per week, with 3 to 5 days between treatments to let the skin recover.

The skin will turn red after the treatment. This is a sign of increased circulation in the treated skin. This reddening will decrease after a few moments. As you use the derma roller regularly, the degree of reddening will lessen.

It is very important to sterilise the derma roller properly between treatments. Clean the derma roller after use by placing the roller in isopropyl alcohol for 1-5 minutes to sterilise. Shake off the remaining liquid and let the roller dry to the air.

For the best results, it is advisable to replace the derma roller after 10 uses.
