The Five-minute Journal changes everything
I will own up immediately. I am a perfectionist. I am critical of myself, my life and others. I always tend to see something that can be done better or could have done better. For me, the glass is not half full: it is more than half empty. Worrying is a part of my personality. At night, I often worry about my actions during the day and the day to come. And that’s quite difficult.
On February 1st, 2016, Eduard gave me the Five-minute Journal as a gift. At first, the journal didn’t seem too exciting to me. However, nothing could have been further from the truth. Three months have passed, and I can honestly say The Five-minute Journal changes my life. Thanks to this journal I can be more satisfied with myself and my life than I would have ever thought. And it isn’t just that. Right from the day I started with the journal, I was able to sleep well. I fall asleep fast(er) because I don’t worry anymore. The lack of racing thoughts enables me to fall asleep again when I wake up at night. I am still surprised to find that a simple journal can have this much of an impact.
This journal also works well if you’re more of a ‘glass half-full’ type of person. Eduard falls within this category and simultaneously started writing the journal two times a day. He always has a very long to-do list. He used to go to bed very frustrated because he wasn’t able to finish his daily to-do list. This has radically changed.
Being so gripped by the effect of this journal, I begged Eduard to include The Five-minute Journal in Helfi’s assortment. So now you can order The Five-minute Journal in our online shop!
What is the secret behind The Five-Minute Journal?
It has been proven over and over again that shifting your focus to the positive, can dramatically improve your happiness. The key is consistency. This journal is a combination of the proven elements of positive psychology that can make all of the difference in your life.
You will see that the Five Minute Journal is a great way to start and end your day.
How does The Five-Minute Journal work?
The Five Minute Journal is a simple guiding format based on positive psychology research. It will help you develop gratitude and create positive, meaningful days in just 5 minutes per day! The idea is simple. As soon as you wake up, you take your journal. You then answer three questions:
- I am grateful for…
- What would make today great?
- Daily affirmations, I am…
In this way, you start your day on the right note! Directly before going to sleep, you take your journal again. You now answer two questions:
- Three amazing things that happened today?
- How could I have made today better?
These questions help you to shift your focus to the positive and to ‘break out’ of your negative thinking. No matter how bad your day was!
