Collagen hydrolysate from wild caught Atlantic cod
Collagen protein is found in the skin, bones and joints. Most collagen protein supplements come from beef products. Paleo Powders supplies collagen hydrolysate derived from wild-caught cod.
Collagen protein and eating from head to tail
When you eat meat, you probably eat mostly muscle meat. We eat less collagen-rich parts, such as skin, bones and joints. Collagen contains different amino acids than muscle meat. You will have a more balanced intake of amino acids if you also eat collagen-rich protein.
95% protein with collagen amino acid profile
Collagen Hydrolysate from Cod consists of 95% protein. Its amino acid profile is similar to that of other collagen supplements. Collagen contains fewer essential amino acids than whey protein, but supplies more glycine and proline, which are rare in whey.
Compared to other types of protein, collagen contains a lot:
- Glycine
- Proline
- Alanine
- Arginine
Collagen also contains hydroxylysine and hydroxyproline, amino acids not found in other protein sources.
Easily digestible, soluble and quickly absorbable protein
Collagen protein turns into gelatine when heated. Gelatine becomes rigid when cooled. Useful for desserts and cakes, but not for cold drinks.
Collagen hydrolysate is enzymatically digested protein. The long chains of collagen are cut into small pieces (peptides). These peptides dissolve easily and do not become stiff. Your body digests peptides more quickly and absorbs them more easily than undigested protein.
Neutral taste
Collagen hydrolysate has a neutral taste. You can therefore add this protein powder to all kinds of drinks without adding unwanted flavours.
For example, add collagen hydrolysate to coffee, tea, smoothies, shakes, or soup.
Sustainable collagen protein from wild-caught cod
Paleo Powders uses wild-caught Atlantic cod for their collagen hydrolysate. This cod has the Marine Stewardship Certificate (MSC). The collagen is therefore of sustainable origin.
