What is propolis?

Propolis is a glue-like substance made by bees. We also call propolis kith resin. Bees make propolis from the buds and sap of trees and plants. Resin is usually the main ingredient. Bees themselves use propolis to seal cracks in their hive and to cover the walls. The colour of propolis depends on the tree or plant it comes from. It is often dark brown.

What is propolis made of?

On warm days, bees collect sap and resin on leaves, in buds and on the bark of certain trees. The resin serves to protect and disinfect the tree and flower buds. The bees loosen the resin by chewing it, thus adding a solvent from the glands of their jaws.

Bees take the resin back to the hive. There it is further processed. The bees mix it with pollen and beeswax, among other things. Now we call it propolis. The bees use the propolis to seal their houses and cover the walls. Propolis also helps to disinfect the bee's nest.

What is in propolis?

Bees add certain substances to the propolis. Aromatic acids, flavonoids, pollen and phytonicides, among others, are added. There are also vitamins and minerals in propolis.

Propolis used by people

Propolis has been used by people for centuries. The Egyptians and Incas, among others, used propolis. And the ancient Egyptians did as well. They used the product as a balm during mummification.

100% natural

Propolis is a 100% natural product and therefore has a varying composition. The product is the result of a combination of plant ingredients and animal processing. The work of the bees ensures that plant resin is turned into propolis.

Various forms of propolis

Propolis is not only used in supplements but also in cosmetics. It can be found in various types of soap, shampoo, cream or deodorant.

Supplements with propolis come in the form of a throat spray, propolis powder, capsules with propolis or a tincture of this natural bee product.

Propolis as a throat spray

B.Immune Throat Spray uses propolis in the form of a spray. You apply the throat spray directly into the mouth. In this way it goes directly into the throat. The B.Immune Throat Spray is easy to dose and therefore easy to use.
